Kadena Town Seinen Joint Association

Program:Hakuryu

Our District

Kadena is a town with a population of about 14,000 and is located in the central region of Okinawa. As many of you know, it is home to the Kadena U.S. Air Force Base which takes up 83% of the town, leaving the residents to live in close proximity to their neighbors.
Because the residents live in densely populated areas of this small town, everybody knows everybody. There is a good sense of community here where all of the residents enthusiastically cooperate in various activities by each of the district’s residents associations. The only downside to our town is that sometimes we are unable to hear our televisions at times, due to the deafening aircraft noise.

Our Group

Our association is made up of seinenkai from each of the districts in our town. This year, in commemoration of the association’s 60th anniversary, we saw the successful holding of Kadena Town Seinen Eisa Festival, with cooperation from relevant organizations and the town’s residents.
We will continue our efforts to vitalize our town and to do all that we can to better our town for the residents.

Description of Our Performance

The piece we will be performing is based on the town’s Muruchi Legend, which some of you may know as it has been made into a Kumi-odori piece.
Ten of our members will be doing their best to express the fierce movements of the Dragon, and we count on our audience to cheer us on.

Our Aspirations for this Festival

The performance takes a lot of energy and effort, and is actually more difficult than it looks! So we’re counting on your cheers and support!
