Description of Our Performance
The history of the Heshikiya Eisa is long and rich with its beginnings uncertain due to its age. It has often been said that in 1904, then chairman of the Heshikiya seinenkai observed the Nago Eisa, which was one of the most famous in Okinawa, and merged the parts of their style to the Heshikiya style of eisa at the time.
The characteristics of Heshikiya eisa is that there are two styles of eisa, separated as east and west. In addition, our members consist of young men and women under the age of 25, performing barefoot in our costumes with base tones of black and white. It is said that the eisa of Heshikiya West is soft and somewhat gentle, having a feminine style.
Our Aspirations for this Festival
First, we’d like to thank the members of the Festival’s Executive Committee and of course, the residents and former seinenkai members and other related people in the district who have always given us the support and understanding in order for us to participate in various activities. We hope to give our finest performance and to show the fruits of our eisa efforts.
