Ozato Seinenkai

Our District

The Ozato Seinenkai is based in Itoman. In our district is the historic Nanzanjo Castle site, next to where the Kadeshi-ga spring flows in abundance throughout the year. We also hold the traditional event of tug-of-war.

Our Group

The Seinenkai is made up of men and women between the ages of 18 to 24, with the cooperation from local high school students as well as former Seinenkai members. We participate and contribute to the district’s events and volunteer work throughout the year.

Description of Our Performance

Ozato Eisa was first introduced 31 years ago by the Kyan Seinenkai, which is also based in Itoman. Over the years, we have taken what we learned from our neighboring district and through research, added movements and dance to make the style our very own. Our distinctive features include the dance with our hips lowered, drum-handling and changes in formations. Also, it is distinctively Ozato in the way that we refer to our Chondara as Zanme.

Our Aspirations for this Festival

This year marks Ozato Eisa’s 31st year. We hope to continue our tradition and pass it on to the next generations for us to see the 35th and 40th anniversaries, and many more.
